Types of research

Each research method has strengths and limitations. UpFront can help you decide which method is best based on your goals and objectives.

Survey research
UpFront has many years of experience in survey research projects. We often collect data with written surveys, but also have considerable experience with telephone and internet studies. For more information about survey research, check out our newsletters download page.

Focus groups
Dianne Tuff has facilitated more than 200 focus groups in the past few years, making her the most experienced focus group leader in Central Minnesota. UpFront focus groups are also conducted with an observer/recorder to assist the facilitator. This makes sure we gather and record complete information. For more information about focus groups, check out our newsletters download page.

Interviews
Personal interviews are well-suited to gathering sensitive information. UpFront often uses interviews as part of organization development projects as well as evaluation projects. Appreciative Inquiry techniques are often part of the interview process.

Case studies
Case studies help personalize research findings and are useful in many types of projects but particularly in program evaluation.

For more information about case studies, check out our newsletters download page.

If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?”
